NEW YORK (AP) — Minnesota Twins manager Rocco Baldelli was ejected after an umpire checked Domingo Germán extensively following three perfect innings Saturday and allowed the New York Yankees pitcher to remain in the game.Germán was checked after the top of the third by crew chief James Hoye and again when he came onto the field during the top of the fourth. Yankees manager Aaron Boone and team translator Marlon Abreu joined the discussion, which led to a 5 1/2-minute gap between the end of the third and the start of the fourth.When Germán was allowed to go back to the mound, Baldelli came out of the dugout and pointed repeatedly as Hoye tossed the manager from the game.Twins bench coach Jayce Tingler took over as manager.Germán retired his first 15 batters, striking out 10. Angels SS prospect Zach Neto called up, starting vs Red Sox

BOSTON (AP) — The Los Angeles Angels promoted highly touted shortstop Zach Neto from Double-A before Saturday’s game against the Red Sox at Fenway Park.The 22-year-old is the club’s first-round pick from the 2022 draft. He’ll be starting and batting eighth on Saturday, and is expected to get the bulk of the playing time at shortstop. Neto hit a combined .322 with eight homers and 37 RBIs over 44 games overall in the minors, including .444 with three homers and 10 RBIs in seven games at Double-A Rocket City this season.The Angels sent infielder David Fletcher to Triple-A to make room for Neto on the roster. Fletcher signed a $26 million, five-year contract before the 2021 season. Rats beware: DC dog owners on the prowl for city vermin

It’s no secret D.C. has a rat problem, but what you may not know is that some local dog owners are trying to help.Bomani Mtume and his dog, Barto, are among a number of dog owners who patrol for vermin around the Adams Morgan neighborhood in Northwest on Saturday nights.Mtume picked up the idea from the Ryders Alley Trencher-fed Society (or R.A.T.S.), a New York City-based group that sets up rat hunts with their dogs. He started taking Barto out on hunts with a similar D.C.-based group in September, and has since carried on the work independently with a few other owners.The actual process of the dogs capturing and killing a rat is as graphic as you’d expect.“They usually grab them and shake them until their neck breaks, and then they let them go and go for another one,” Mtume told WTOP, saying that the dogs don’t eat the rats after killing them.Barto might not be the most imposing canine on the block — he’s a Cairn Terrier, the same breed as Toto ...

Toddler revived with Narcan after overdose in Manassas Park

A two-year-old boy in Manassas Park, Virginia, was revived with Narcan by first responders Friday, according to authorities.Manassas Park police said that officers found the toddler unresponsive inside a home in the 9400 block of Blackhawk Court around 8:30 a.m. on Friday.First responders began life saving measure, eventually administering Narcan to revive the child.He was transported to Prince William Hospital and was ultimately sent to Inova Fairfax for advanced medical care.Two women in the home, 33-year-old Ashley Polzer and 26-year-old Savannah Jones, were taken into custody.Polzer was arrested for providing false identification to law enforcement and possession of drug paraphernalia.
