O'FALLON, Mo. - It was an early-morning call for the O'Fallon Police Department. Bryan Harr, Sgt. of OFPD said the station received several calls about a dog on the highway along the exit at TR Hughes Boulevard. "The dog was obviously scared by traffic on the interstate but allowed our officer to go over, pick him up, and get him out of the highway, which is a good thing for the motoring public and the dog," said Harr. Light rain and snow to impact Friday evening plans Somehow, a man's best friend, in this case a Rottweiler mix, was along a busy and dangerous stretch of the interstate."You don't want to be out on Highway 70 as a dog. It's busy and dangerous for pedestrians and dogs," said Harr.Officers were able to stop traffic, secure the dog, and eventually turn the canine over to the city's animal control. Published Thu, 31 Oct 2024 23:59:50 GMT
ST. LOUIS - The drought situation in the St. Louis area has been holding pretty steady lately, but upcoming storm systems bring some potential for improvement. While river levels look low, experts say there’s really no concern at the moment and that levels are around average.“I know it looks bad when you look at it, but its pretty much what they typically see this time of year," said Mark Fuchs, Senior Service Hydrologist with the National Weather Service in St. Louis. "The Mississippi at St. Louis in particular today is at the 55th percentile of all flows that are seen on January 5th. So that’s pretty good." St. Louis radar: See a map of current weather here In order to improve the drought situation, we want to see above-normal precipitation in a week. “And of course, above-normal precipitation is even better. And it gives us an opportunity to improve the drought monitor classifications when that happens,” said Fuchs. Late Monday into Tuesday, we expect significant precipitation...Colorado Springs police say 16-year-old shot by officer raised gun at sheriff’s deputy

The Rockies opened the new year by acquiring much-needed depth, signing starting pitcher Dakota Hudson and veteran catcher Jacob Stallings to one-year, major league deals. To make room for Hudson and Stallings on the 40-man roster, catcher Brian Serven was placed on waivers and subsequently claimed by the Cubs, while infielder Alan Trejo was outrighted to Triple-A Albuquerque.Hudson, a right-hander, was a first-round selection by St. Louis in the 2016 draft. He’s a groundball pitcher who performed well early in his career after making his debut with the Cardinals in 2018. For his first three seasons, he went 23-10 and posted a 3.18 ERA over 67 games, including 40 starts. But Hudson, 29, missed almost all of the 2021 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery, and he struggled mightily last season. He posted a 4.98 ERA in 81 1/3 innings of work. He also was demoted to Triple-A, where he made 11 starts and had a 6.00 ERA.The Cardinals non-tendered the right-hander in November, mak...Broncos’ run of continuity ends before finale with RT Mike McGlinchey (ribs) ruled out

The Broncos’ run of continuity on the offensive line nearly hit the finish line.Instead, one Week 18 curveball.Right tackle Mike McGlinchey on Friday was ruled out for Sunday’s finale against Las Vegas because of an inadvertent shot to the ribs he took against the Chargers from teammate Javonte Williams’ helmet. That means the Broncos will have a new starting configuration up front after 16 straight games of the same quintet.Cam Fleming will start at right tackle for McGlinchey while the other four — left tackle Garett Bolles, left guard Ben Powers, center Lloyd Cushenberry and right guard Quinn Meinerz — are each on track to start for the 17th time this year.“Those guys, we always talk about that group having cohesiveness and it’s a group that is fairly tight,” coach Sean Payton said Friday. “It’s a credit to (them). I would really say that the story is when you watch that group work out. It’s impressive. It’s a credit or testament to their offseason. Alex Singleton lined up the chance to take a crack at his buddy and, like the prolific tackler he is, didn’t miss.Have you allowed yourself to consider, a reporter asked, that Sunday could be the last game you play next to Josey Jewell?“Oh, thank god,” Singleton said.A joke, of course. Not only that, but perhaps a bit of a guard against too deep a ponder on the matter. After all, Singleton and Jewell have become close friends in their two seasons patrolling the middle of the Broncos defense together. They live close to each other, eat the same food and somehow are rarely seen more than a few feet apart, even though their lockers are across the room from each other at the Centura Health Training Center.Jewell’s two-year, $11 million contract is up after this season. The Broncos could work something out with him between now and the start of free agency in March, or he could end up playing elsewhere for the first time after six years with Denver.Singleton, actually, says he hopes their ...Woman with baby attacked in Long Beach
